    Monday Outage

    The site is back up and running normally after a database error took down Live.com and our Partner portals on Monday.
     
    What happened?
     
    We started receiving reports of users being unable to login or being served the search only page when accessing the site on Monday afternoon.  An investigation into the issue discovered that one of the database servers had gone offline, preventing users from logging in and accessing their personalized pages.  The server was back online at around 5:30pm after all issues were resolved.  No data was lost and users should be able to login to their personalized pages normally.
     
    We sincerely apologize for this error along with any hassles it caused and are working with our operations teams to ensure this doesn't happen again.

    Mickey - what URL are you going to?  Http://my.live.com will not redirect to the search page, even if the site is under maintenance (you'll get the maintenance page if that's the case).

    If the server is back up and running as you say it is...then why am I still getting the message this Tuesday morning that it is under maintenance?  I'm still not getting Live regardless of what you say.

    I'm just wondering if the previous commenters have enough to keep them occupied in their lives, or if they simply feel such a sense of entitlement to anything they want that they neglect the fact that Spaces Live is free?  I have been blogging on Spaces for over three years and have seen many changes.  Not everything works perfectly or exactly as you want it the first time.  Get over it.  Somehow, even an old fart like me has been able, not only to keep up with the changes, but has been featured four times.  Here's an idea for the Spaces Live Team; don't invite this invective, charge $5.00 on PayPal per opinion stated. *sigh*

    Yepp, seems like Microsoft doesn't give a s*** about their customers, especially those using Live. The spamming is intolerable on Live Spaces and the friggin' mail gadget on Live.com is a joke! What do we get .... a little extra of the title on the browser bar, it used to simply say "Windows Live", simple and clean ...classy even, but now we get "Windows Live Personalized Experience"!! Hah! It should rather say "Windows Live Shitty Experience", if you really want to squeeze in more words in the rather classy and simple title "Windows Live", which it used to be - and should be.

    Boy ...Netvibes.com seem more appealing 'by the day.

    I wonder how many more months it will take whoever does this blog to give an update. Honestly, if you're not going to keep us up with news or anything, this isn't a blog at all, and it shouldn't been created. By not updating, you're undermining the value of Windows Live, as it it's a joke.
     
    And yes, Netvibes is far superior to the personalized Live.com, iGoogle, and all the other start pages. Maybe MS should consider making a buy on Netvibes (and hopefully keeping it just the same).

    You're definitely not the only one who's fed up with seeing this comment:

    It's been two months since you noticed the issue and it's still not fixed. It not mentioned anywhere in Windows Live Help. It looks like Microsoft has given up on Windows Live. Netvibes, here I come!

    Hey just pointing out IE 8 Beta 1 out and Live.com and the some of the other sites on live aren't loading very well and even though there's a IE 7 Emulator it still slows live.com I hope these display and loading of Live.com in IE 8 are addressed son weither it's a IE 8 issue or the sites I might be looking at using a compatable home page site like charter's net google pge till this stuff getsworked out.

    I mean if you want hints as to how to make a start page right, check out Netvibes. They know what they're doing.

Nearly always some failure messages, such as "The Windows Live Hotmail service is currently unavailable. Please try again. (7)"; and refreshing doesn't work - mind you, no one should have to refresh a gadget to make it work!
     
    And then I would love to know, if I were to link two accounts (two .live accounts), how would the Mail gadget be? Split in to - or?? Any one got screencaps for me?
     
    Also, I want to know how to let a Live Spaces (registered when I had a .hotmail account - not a .live.com) become 'registered' under one of my new Live account (I have two, one that is spam free, and my main one, as only my friends have that email address, and the other one to signup for forums and stuff like that - which is a subscription to spam, in my eyes -- but I have no interest in registering a Spaces account with that email account)
     
    ...so far no forums that I have seen can help, and thus so far, no help from Spaces team - as sadly, official Live.com forum, is missing sadly - I would rather have a forum, where the developers were helping people, instead of reading blogs that are very seldom updated and not much help in our troubles (seems to me that there seems to be pretty huge problems with all of the Live products)

    Has anyone noticed they are unable to view their personalized page via their Windows Mobile device?  I recently upgraded to the BlackJack II and I'm no longer able to view my personalized page.  It defaults to the crappy mobile.live.com page.  I want to see the same personalized page on my mobile.  What happened?  I even tried viewing it with Opera Mobile...and no luck there either.  I'm assuming it is my phone, but why isn't this the default or why can't we choose to view our personalized page as an option via mobile?

    Wow, I was wondering what was going on that day. I got redirected to the old Live.com "search-only" page. I was surprised. I needed to check my RSS feeds, and I kind of missed a lot when it wasn't available.
     
    So speaking of RSS feeds, any chance in thinking the Windows Live team can make "Windows Live RSS Feeds"? Or am I already asking too much?  At the same time, I also hope you guys update Live Favorites. Though based on you guy's performance, I'm still having less confidence in you guys.
     
    And please do something about the spam links on the other posts. It's hideous, and shouldn't be too hard to toss out.
